This series tests the boundaries of what it means for a painting to be complete. In my experience, when a painting gains a personality of its own, and begins speaking back to the viewer, it gains the authority to be distinguished as a work.

Through the process of creating a colour field of lines and shapes, I work up to the moment when the painting commands me, signalling that it is prepared to sojourn into the world.
