The Naive Manifesto

To say that art must have a particular style is to instantly narrow it from its endless potential. It is to box yourself in a tomb of your own creation. My style is free. My art is free. It is unbounded by rules, laws, and science. It is the openness of a child in a playground.

That being said, I do have a purpose of painting. But it is a simple one, a naive one, even. It is to be taken in completely by the gentle caresses of the moment. To move beyond thought, plan, order, and to enter into the rhythmic chaos of freeform color. Because Life is free. Life is spontaneous, and Life creates innumerable variations without ceasing. So my purpose is to access life in its purest depths. I am a child. The innocent child of nature, and no age or clock can alter this truth.

To set a style is to set a direction. A person that only walks east loses out on more than he gains. A person who hears only the guitar, misses the rhythm of the drums, the melody of the flute. I look to the beautiful west and I cry. The North makes my eyes full. I am the still life, I am the landscape, I am the portrait, I am the abstract, I am everywhere, and nowhere, all at once
